day 42 - Back to Singapore

Time really flies. And finally the day we returning to Singapore have come. Most of us woke up at 7 am, get ourselves and things prepared to leave to the airport. We did an area cleaning and packed those things we bought there and not wanting to bring it back and gave it to auntie (the one took care of the hostel). She was very happy when we gave her. Most of us were just too excited to go back Singapore.

My reflection:
Watching most of my friends parents fetching their son and daughter really touch me a lot. I really hope that my parents and siblings were also there fetching me. How sweet isn’t it?
My dad was at Indonesian and so do most of my siblings so I would never experience it how it feels.
Luckily I have my mum waiting for me at home. As I alight from the taxi, I look up at my house window ( 2nd floor) and I saw my mum waving at me.
I guess that was already enough for me. Thanks Mum. <3

day 41 - Last Shopping Trip

We took bus to Grand Ocean this time as we could not get our “private van” to bring us there. The driver was busy with his job.
All of us felt that taking bus is also quite fast actually. And one only has to pay 2RMB. It was so much cheaper compare to our private van which one has to pay for 5RMB. Of course for bus we had to squeeze with so many people. Unlike the van, each person has a seat and one can even sleep until it reaches the place.

We tried to get as many present as possible for our family members and friends back in Singapore as this would be our last shopping trip and so many of us bought a lot of things.

Some of us also tried the haunted house in the mall. Seriously, I was very afraid while in there. Then, we all went back to hostel early to pack our things as our teacher would be coming room to room to check on our luggage. So as to make sure our luggage did not go overweight.

My reflection:

Personally, I very afraid of ghost and dare not dare to try to join my friends to enter the haunted house. Since most of them wanted to try it out. So I tell myself why not. Since it is my last day in Wuhan then let be, just give it a try. And so after closing my eyes here and there while inside the haunted house we finally came out to the exit and realized that the level we been through was just level 2. Most of my friends are not satisfied and so ask for the highest level which is level 5. And so they went in leaving Polim and me behind as both of us dare not dare to try the highest level.
I am happy with myself that I actually have the courage to actually try it.

day 40 - Farewell Dinner

We went to Grand Ocean for shopping again. We just find Grand Ocean convenient to shop and travel, that’s the reason why we always shop there.
We all went to Ajisen for lunch again and it was my 4th time eating at the restaurant. I kind of addicted to it. We have to fasten our pace and try to shops as fast as possible as we had a farewell dinner at 6pm.
We try our best not to be late so as to give a good impression to the local students and teachers.

My reflection:
Farewell dinner
Although we only know the local students for about 4 weeks, it was like as if we know them for them long. Some of them even gave us souvenir as they know we will be going back soon. We felt touch for that and so some of us bought some gift for them too.
I told some of them to find me when the day they visit to Singapore so I can bring them around. Some of them also ask me to visit to their home town for skiing. I would but next time may be.
I believe we were all fate to be friends.

My reflection:
I find that the people here are not too picky on wearing shirts. They even wear T-shirt with jeans while practicing dances.
Unlike we people here, we will definitely find it very uncomfortable by using T-shirt with jeans doing dances. I find that they have to do it so as most of them do their own laundry. By using the same shirt to do those sports will help them to save time for laundry in some way. If not by using different shirt, it tends to add on to the laundry and time spending washing on the laundry.

My reflection:
We were all in one group and I had a friend, Xanier, wanting to get a bag at a small shop. She wanted to bargain for lower price but the lady boss was just too reluctant to give her. And for that, she went out of the shop hoping to get the bag from other shops for cheaper price.
We walked down the street and went in all the shops. We just could not find the same bag that she wants.
I told her to give me a try to bargain alone at the shop and so I went back to the shop. I gave her my widest smile ever as I went in the shop. “whahahaaaa”. Walked straight to the back of the shop and pointed at the bag to her. The bag was 120RMB so I ask for 90RMB as request from Xanier. She told me the best price she can give me is 100RMB. After all the sweet talk by telling her I would recommend more friends to buy from her shop, as last she gave me 90RMB. It was just unbelievable that I actually can bargain.
I found that when we went in to shops in a group here, it tend to be harder for us to bargain for lower price. Try to walk in alone and bargain would be better I guess.

My reflection:
After the Singapore Poly student stabbing incident, our teachers are even more concern for our safety here. We have to sign in and out with time and name written in a notebook, where and whenever we leave our hostel. We are told to avoid places like Karaoke, Pub and massage centre and to be back at 1030pm latest. We are also being advised to go out in group instead of individually.
Taking oneself care when oversea is very important. If possible do not make trouble in the country such as avoiding ‘those’ places.
We will all go back Singapore safely. From the spirit we had now, we will all take care of each other everywhere we go.

My reflection:
We have been in a shopping spree this few days. I, myself, have already run out of money buying back a lot of things for relatives, friends and myself. Most of the sport brands like Nike and Adidas here are having great sales. Due to the weather changes, summer to autumn, many shops are selling long sleeves T-shirt. We are very surprised that the shops actually gave 50% off when one purchase short sleeves T-shirt. That’s made us buy quite a number of them.
It is quite interesting experiencing a country with 4 seasons. We cannot experienced all this kind of shopping market happening in Singapore as back there we only have 2 seasons.
I have to manage and control the way I spend on things. I have been spending too much I guess.

Today activities is mostly organized by our fellow MDE mate, Jun Ru. She kept in touched with the tour guide who followed us to Wudang Shan Mountain and so she had the tour guide helping her in booking the bus and organizing the activities for the day. Thanks Jun Run and the tour guide for the help.
We headed to ZhongShan Park. It was known as a public park also. We reached quite early at about 9am looking at the old citizens doing some recreational exercises before we went to the theme park. Ya, I was quite surprised that the theme park was actually located at the same park that we went.

We then took train to JiangHan Street for shopping. I found the place quite familiar and guess what, we all been there before. We used to call the place HanKou. It was as if like Singapore Raffles Place.

We use ferry to get ourselves to the famous night market called “Hu Bu Xiang”. One can get anything he wants along the road street stalls. I have to admit that the food here might be a little oily but they just taste too good.

My reflection:
Theme Park;
Some of us were still scare of playing some of the rides in the Theme Park. Yea, we have to imply safety regulation. By not playing the ride, is that considered as playing safe. Everybody has their own choice and for that we cannot force them to join and play with us if he/she not keen to .I have to admit that I myself have the fear of playing all those rides. And why I still choose to join the ride with some of the other friends. I just wanted to make this trip as memorial as possible, to play every single games together with my friends, sharing and enjoying the laughter that we all made. We could hardly travel oversea again next time, even though it is possible, we cannot possibly get the same people going with us. And so try to treasure every single moment here.
Mrt;
The MRT system is similar as compare with the one in Singapore. One has to purchase ticket from the ticket machines. The ticket in Singapore is something like card while the ticket here is chip. By using chips as MRT ticket do help passenger to save space in the pocket but as the chips are small in size, it tend to drop easily and lost.
There are always pro and cons in life.
Ferry;
Another way of transport system we took today. The terminal was filled with so many passengers queuing up to get over to the famous street to get good food. What catch my eyes were the motor scooters with the riders on it queuing up as well. They spammed their horn while queuing up trying to squeeze for any gaps as if they are rushing to some places.
I found that combining vehicle and passenger in one ferry is just too dangerous. Accident may occur anytime.
They should have divided the path or something, on the left vehicles whiles the right passengers.

day 34 - Resting Day

We gave ourselves a rest for today even though some of them went for another shopping trip. We had our lunch at a restaurant nearby our campus. They served good food and also not so expensive. Each of us paid like $2 for a satisfaction meal with 5-6 dishes. Okay, China food is really cheaper than the food in Indonesia. I could not get any food in a restaurant by paying only $2. By so, I realized that the standard of living in China is quite low. Guess I have to find out what is the basic salary the working people have here from the local students.

Also,I have to admit that guys are not good at shopping. They complained about their ever aching legs after a few hours of walking. Then I found that if we put ourselves at playing sports or games, we complained nothing but wanted to play more.

My reflection:
There were 8 of us leaving the school, wanting to cab two taxi and head to “Jia Le Fu” shopping malls. While we were flagging for cab, a small van just stopped in front of us with the driver asking us where we were going. Not wanting to be separated, also with only 30 RMB charge to our destination, we boarded the van.
The drivers in China were just too experienced and skillful. Eight of us saw red light was approaching us. Our driver did not decelerate instead he increases speed. We were stunned and not sure what he was trying to do. He passed the red light by turning right and quickly changed direction by turning left again. And there he goes, red light without stopping. The reactions from us were like “WOW”.
The people here really were going against the traffic rules. But I hardly see any road accident happening in China so far.
Let’s compare it with Singapore whereby we people MUST follow the traffic rules. We could still encounter car accidents while travelling to school early in the morning.
I found that driving is basically depended more of one experience. I believe the drivers here drive since young. May be the day they started driving were when their legs could actually touch the pedals.

day 32 - Our Last Test

Had BPE written test 2 this morning which covered 5 chapters. It was a 1 hour 30 minutes paper. We started at 10.15am and ended at 1145am.Not as easy as we had expected.
Finally our test is over and no more lecture.
We only left with assignment 3 report and assignment 3 presentation.

My reflection:
I had noticed that the Chinese were all very humble. Every times you said thanks to them they would reply you “no need thanks”.
This is very different compare with the people in Singapore. If we say thanks in Singapore, they will reply us “you’re welcome”. As if they are expecting that from us. If we don’t, most will think that we are not appreciating enough.
Different countries just have different cultures.

day 31 - Happy 60th National Day, China

Basicly, most of us camped at our dorm today being afraid of heavy traffic if we go out.

My Reflection:
The school, the street, the road, everywhere seems to be very empty. I predicted to have busy in the road as it was public holiday and people would tend to go for shopping or somewhere. Until I went in to a small restaurant to have my lunch and realized that most of the people there all eyes on the television watching the National Day Parade.
I then came across the same thing while having my dinner. Okay, I found that China celebrates the National Day for the entire day. Perhaps they had enough people to perform for the country.

From there I could see that the Chinese really really proud of being the citizen of China. And that what everybody of different countries should do.

day 29 - Our very Last Lesson

Class started at 2 pm which covered our very last chapter and quiz.
There was no electricity in the whole campus. No one knows the reason why. It was rather difficult for our teacher, Mr Joseph to teach us without the use of electricity. So we did a self study and finished our quiz. That made our class ended very early.

With China National Day approaching, students were practicing the parade at the school stadium.
We rushed back to our dorm after lunch to continue with our assignment 2 project as presentation due tomorrow.

My reflection:
I was still curious about the blackout in the campus today. Had class without the use of electricity made me thought of the students in Singapore practicing the Total Defense Day. By saving the use of electricity and water for the day so as to reinforce the message that everyone has a part to play in Total Defence.
It really highlighted how the people suffered when there was no defence system during the past.

day 28- Pharmaceutical Plant visit

BPE lesson started at 10am. Mr Joseph covered chapter 8 and finished quiz 8 also. We still left with only chapter 10 left as we had to self study for chapter 9.
After lunch we went for an industrial visit near the school. It was a pharmaceutical plant. No photography, No entering, No everything.

My reflection:
Thought of learning something new from the industrial visit on how the process of the company like but it turned out to be a disappointment. We were not allowed to enter to the any of the processing lines. It was a pharmaceutical industry and by so they had to make sure 100% clean. But I just can’t see the purpose of visiting industry by just looking at the outer part of the industry.
The Coca-cola industrial visit is still better than this.

day 26 & 27 - Wudang Shan Mountain

We all gathered at 6.30am in the morning. Wanted to bath and send some e-mail back home but there was no electricity. Not wanting to be late, we all move on to our usual meeting place.

We had a long 7 hours ride to Wudang Shan Mountains. Most of our empty stomachs were finally filled up with good a lunch after we reached.

I thought the weather would be cold up on the mountain so I wore 3 layers of clothes. But due to the stairs we climb to our first scenic spot the Prince Temple I got warmed up.

Lucky enough to have my friend telling me about the story of the Prince Temple who been there last week as I did not really understand what the tour guide was trying to explain. Thanks BK. So roughly, I knew part of it before climbing up.

My Reflection:
Climbing the Wudang Shan Mountain was not an easy task. It consists of around 6500 steps to reach the peak. As it was not a race, quite a number of us actually take our time, taking photos and enjoying the sceneries. We played and cracked joke along the climb and that actually helps to forget the tiredness in us. One of my group members Daniel, was ahead of me. He asked for many days of rest after he joined us for a PT session last week. And so I always thought that he would give up on his way up. But to my surprised, I could not even catch up with him. He was far far ahead of me and only until I reached the peak, then I saw him. Good job Daniel.
He said he wanted to give up during the climb but the support from his surrounding friends had actually motivated him so much that he never.

The encouragement and support of friends can really have a very powerful effects on one’s ability to overcome challenges.

Went off for IS lesson in the morning. Topic for the day was “Chinese Business etiquette” being lectured by the local lecturer. Knowing the Dos and Don’ts of some countries.
The way he conducted his lesson was rather interesting. Everyone’s computer screen was being controlled by him. What he displayed was what we seen at our own screen.

My reflection:
Today’s Business Etiquette has taught me a lot of things that would be useful for now and the future. Knowing the Dos and Don’ts from different countries and understanding the difference in culture. This lesson has really thought me how to react or behave upon dealing with someone which will be useful for me in the future.

day 24 - China National Day Performance

Time passes really really fast that we only left with 2 weeks in Wuhan.
Mr Joseph taught us chapter 7 and finished quiz 7 today. We still left with 3 more chapters , another assignment, written test 2 and a group video. We will be going to Wudang Mountain for this weekend tour. Meaning we have to complete our assignment 2 before we head to Wudang as due date is next week Tuesday.

We had dinner at nearby restaurant. The food was delicious. There were 11 of us and the total bill cost us around RMB110 meaning each paid RMB10($2) to eat in a restaurant. Isn’t it worth!!!

At 7 pm. We were invited to watch an annually performance by the local students. It was known to be a performance for the freshmen and at the same time the National Celebration. All of the students performed very well. They just came out with an outstanding performance from their vocal skills to the dancing skill.

My reflection:
During the performance, I met Lyric(the local student that I met during the interaction time). So I asked her some questions regarding the performance.
I was told that the performances were all performed by students. Those students volunteered to perform were selected after been through round of auditions.
Its all base on volunteered and so the students were not given money or so called “CCA point” like we students used to get in Ngee Ann.
The students here are very proud of themselves.
They were also willing to put in effort for the school and country not for the money and for that’s they deserved to get the words “UNITED NATION”.

day 23 - High Element Activities

Today activity is on high element. Before the start of the activities, we played some games. We have to draw our flag and name our group. We called ourselves “Dragon” assuming that we are very brave. Costumes have to be design and made using newspaper. We even rank ourselves. One will be the King, others were Generals and the rest were just peasants. It was rather kind of a campfire performance. We have to compete with others groups.

After that we all headed to the rock climbing station. It looks easy before you climb and when you were up there, it was just not as easy as you thought. No one manage to reach the summit. Really needed a lot of arms and legs power for one to reach the top.

My reflection:

Today activities have bonded all of us even more.
Trying to reach the summit for rock climbing is one thing but the support your friends have given you is another thing.
We also gain trust with each other from playing the trust fall. Making sure we have the best grip so as to prevent the one from falling to the ground. Most of us do play apart into the game.
The whole activities allow one to know his/her individual strength. Some have actually overcome the fear of high.
You cannot force your friends to challenge themselves to play the game if he/she is not keen to play. Even though you use thousands and one way to force him to play, if he does not want to play, you just cannot do anything. He/she is the only way out. He/she must be willing to challenge themselves. And I believe, if they take that challenge and succeed, that would be the most memorial part in his/her life.

My reflection :
I have been observing the locals student carrying thermo flasks early in the morning. I was so curious that I actually follow them.
They will first place their thermo flasks outside the hot water dispenser shop before it open. Students start queuing after the lady open the gate. I have not checked how much fully filled flask will cost them.
The China Students are very independent. Some of them have no choice but to stay at the school hostel just for education. China is a very big country and so travelling from place to place takes hours. Unlike Singapore we can finish travelling the whole island within one day. So it is better for the students to stay at the school hostel.
We are now like the some of the students here. Taking care all by ourselves independently.
From this, I find myself fortunate enough to actually study at the environment which is fully quite advanced. I need not to worry queue for hot water like the students here.
I shall not take things for granted, really.

Had another IS lesson but this time we were taught by the Principal of the Foreign Language School. We were all very punctual, showing our best behavior so as to give the good impression to Mr Philip An.
Today’s topic is on the Chinese Traditional Thoughts. It teaches us to do more good deeds to get more blessings. He could not finish teaching us all the topics so he will come back again next week.

As there was no class in the afternoon, some of us actually went to town for lunch and shopping. Daniel ,Erwin, KC and I shared a Taxi to town while the rest took the public bus.

We had our lunch at Houcaller Beef steak house. We get the whole set meal here for only $10 and a free flow of salad and fruits. All of us find it very worthy and plan to go back there again.

I suggested Daniel, Erwin and KC to try Starbucks. My friend recommended me to try the greentea ice blended and it is quite refreshing. The price here is almost the same compared to Singapore.

We split ourselves into smaller groups and by so it makes it easier for us to shop. I went to look out for souvenirs while the girls went for manicure. We met them after we guys had finished buying our things but they yet finished. Therefore, some of us went to the arcade and played the catching game and I got a white rabbit this time round.

They had dinner at MacDonald. Erwin and I did not join them as we were not hungry yet. We waited for them outside as there was no seat.
We were quite boring and so we took out our camera and play with the various functions. I had learned to use of Shuttle Speed shot. It captured nicer and brighter pictures.

My reflection :
While taking the taxi, I realize that there is a camera in the taxi. I do not get to see this in Singapore taxi and so I take a picture of that. Definitely, this has to do with the safety of the passengers and the drivers. As China is a big country, it is hard to track down a robbery vehicle. Unlike Singapore, they have hidden camera all over the roads and they can capture robbers within a day.
This has given me the impression of many robbery cases in taxi happened in China. By putting hidden camera in Taxi, it will help to reduce the number of robbery in taxi.
This has clearly shown the different of the both countries regarding the safety of the country.

The cruise played instrument music early in the morning making most of us to wake up, followed with some announcement, asking us to have breakfast at level 2. The food was not that tasty as compare to the food in town. The “man tou” was too hard to chew. Most of us eat the soup noodle which is more appealing than others. And only drink the soya milk.

back to cruise for dinner

It’s the first time I heard that there are elevators for cruises. The first sight that greeted me when I woke up was the Three Gorges Water Lock. In total, there are 5 locks to pass through and each of them takes about 30 minutes. The journey has been shortened by a huge lot thanks to the locks.

My reflection:
Those boat trackers are earning only 25 Yuan($5) per ride. I could see they are taking their work seriously showing the professionalism in them. In a boat, there are 8 trackers. One of them would be a captain giving the signal to the rest of the trackers so as to coordinate well on paddling the boat. Every one of them is working very hard in riding the boat. They were very experienced riders.
Our tour guide told us about the difficulties the boat riders have been through and that melted many of our hearts. We donated 84 Yuan at the end of the ride to the captain. Hopefully that would help some of them. I really did not expect many actually keen to donate that some amount to the tracker. This has shown the kindness of the Singaporean to me and to the riders. They will have a very great impression of the people in Singapore.

First thing first when I woke up is to check my result. I did not get the result I wanted to get so it is rather kind of a disappointment. I have to really work hard for the next semester.
We woke up very early in the morning at 6.20 am before we took the 5 hours ride to YiChang.

Many of us were hungry so we finished our almost all of our lunch at our destination. As usual, it was a 9 course meal and a bowl of soup. The food here is up to my standards as it is not too oily and not too salty.

The visit to the Three Gorges dam after we had our lunch was significant. It was the world’s largest electricity-generating plant and it was located along the Yangtze River. The whole projects were completed in 2008.

we have our dinner before we board to cruise. The food is not as good as the one we had for our lunch.

I was expecting the cruise to be something like star cruise standard. But it was ended to be way way way worse than it. The room has weird smell went we entered but it gone after I opened the windows. Toilet is too small and we have to squeeze our self in when closing the toilet door. I even killed a few cockroaches in the room. We kind of on the aircon but the air came out from it was very unpleasant so we sleep through the night without aircon but the cool sea breeze instead. I will rate the cruise 3/10 as I have seen worse than this in Indonesia. But the way the Tour guide describe about the cruise before we board was not to be the one I see. He said it would be big and quite a leisure cruise. But I Kind of disappointed after I've seen it.

My reflection:
I am very proud of the Three Gorges Dam project. The huge amount of money China has put in is very worthwhile. Not only it prevents flooding but also acts as an energy production. The hydroelectric power actually generates 15 percent of the China’s electricity. This has reduces the amount of fuels which use to generate the power stations. From this scenario, I can see that China has actually planned in advanced for the good in future. Country will continue to prosper if the government runs the country well. Singapore is rather a small country so it is easier to control compare to China. When one sees the three gorges dam with his/her naked eyes, he/she will just wonder how they actually built it. It is such a difficult project and it is something I’m proud of.

We had our first written test today which covers 5 chapters today. We were all shocked when we get the answer booklet as it was the same booklet that we always have during examination written “Common Test Answer Book”.
As usual, the same people when for soccer with me again. This time we finally met the better team as we got trashed by them.

There is time to play and there is time to be serious. I guessed I have been joking too much until people cannot tell when I actually serious. I am sorry if I blow myself up without you knowing. I will try to give myself a limit to joke start from today onwards.

Another IS-Insight to China lesson thought by a new Chinese teacher in the morning. I didn’t have a chance to get to know his name as I went class late. He speaks through a microphone where all the students can hear him via the headphones that were placed on our class table. He taught us some of the Chinese table manners, wedding ceremony, proper use of chopsticks and “feng shui” (Wind and Water). I found that all that he taught was interesting. Had lunch again at canteen 2 before us head for our afternoon class.

We went through chapter 5 and completed Quiz 5 in addition of assignment 1 presentation. Mr Joseph was very strict with our presentation. All of us had to submit our peer evaluation form to him which keep all of us alert and listen properly to our friends who are presenting as we have to rate our friend’s performance. We ended class quite late because of the presentation and there is still a group which has not presented. We were all very excited to play another game with the Chinese students again and so we rushed back to our dorm and changed to our sport attire. Sadly, they were not at the field, perhaps they thought we will not be playing as we reached the pitch quite late. Therefore, I went for a 2.4km run instead.

my reflection :

Many are saying that Singapore school facilities are better compared to Wuhan(china). Today’s IS lesson made me think otherwise. The classroom has earphones on every student’s desk. Students can actually hear from the earphone while the teacher in front speaks through the microphone. Volume can be adjusted. I have to admit that there are advantages and disadvantages.
Advantage: 1.teachers need not raise their voices while teaching in class.
2.students have no problem listening to the teacher as volume is adjustable.
Disadvantage: As teacher is sitting down teaching, it is rather difficult for the teacher to spot students who do not pay fully attention in class.
This facility does help the teacher a lot. Many teachers suffers throat problems after raising too much of their voice during lectures.
I do not mind if this facility is implied in Ngee Ann as it is a win-win situation for both teachers and students.

We are supposed to have self-study in the morning to do our assignment 2 for our BPE module. Due to the lack of sleep, we didn’t wake up on time to do it. Woke up feeling hungry and so I went to buy “ji chong fan” for my breakfast and for Erwin, too. The “ji chong fan” here is totally different from the one in Singapore. The sauce is different and we can choose flavor for our “ji chong fan” they have chicken, pork or beef. I’m addicted to it now and I bought it in the afternoon again. It’s simply too delicious.

Today is our first outing with the local students. We went to the mandarin orange farm where we can pluck and eat oranges on the spot. The oranges were not that sweet, perhaps not the right season. The local students also buried some sweet potatoes on the ground topped with burning charcoal. The sweet potatoes were just very tasty and everyone got the chance to get a bite though.

I am looking forward to the Three Gorges Dam our coming week tour.

After the 3 hours of fun in the orange farm, we went back to hostel to get us prepared for the BBQ organized by the Chinese students. The food wasn’t that nice as what we have expected. Probably we are all not used to the BBQ food here.

We were entertained by fireworks which were being fired by some of the ICT students halfway during the BBQ. The fireworks were so close that everyone covered their heads as it boomed up to the sky. As we didn’t eat that much of the BBQ food, we went off early to get our usual road side stall. We had our dinner quickly as we still have assignment 1 to catch up.

My reflection:

Upon hearing my lousy Chinese language, the stall owners definitely knew that I was a foreigner. I had a hard time buying my food as I could not read the menu and so they explained it to me slowly even though there is a long queue behind me.
Honestly, the stall holders here are more mannered and polite compared to Singapore. I guess it is because of the professional act they put in their job.
Today’s trip to the orange farm is organized by the local Chinese students. I find that they were all very well organized in doing things. They did head count frequently making sure none of us get lost. I could see the potential of being leaders in them. This is what we should learn from them, making the sense of leadership.

Class started at 9am. Learnt new chapter and did a quiz after that. I still have problem solving the question in exercise 2. With the guide of Mr joseph, anything is possible, and there it solved.
Went for lunch at canteen 3 this time and comparing the food with canteen 2, canteen 3 is still much better. Felt a little bit stressful for Mock test and Lab test as I was still not good at Flexsim. Went back to dorm and practice as there are saying practice make perfect. And still I struggled with it during the Test. The weather here really starts to get cooler each day. The students doing the military training should be very glad of it.
We called the Chinese students to play soccer again. And we had another friendly match which we won again. But this time we versus a different opponent.

my reflection :
The people here are much friendlier compare with the people in Singapore. Talking about the soccer game, I did not even know a single one of them yet they dare enough to ask me to join them. Even in the game, they show good sportsmanship and I could see the purpose of playing soccer to them. Not because of winning but to enjoy the game. That is what I seldom encounter it in Singapore , sportmanship in game.

We were all gathered at our usual place where the bus would pick us up before we all leave to “Han Kou” beach.
On the bus, the tour guide told us to take a nap after she saw all of us are still half awaked as the bus ride would take some time to reach our destination.
The beach was located very near the city. There were many kite sellers and we could see some were flying the kites up to the sky. After all the sight-seeing, we continue with a shopping in town. Some of the international brand like Nike, Adidas, Kappa…, the price were almost the same with the one in Singapore. Hence, none of us here buy anything from there as many of us were trying to save money as we had another 3 weeks here.

my reflection :
I was told that the hospital here is horrible compare to the one in Singapore. One has to pay the hospital fee first before receiving the treatment. If one is in serious injuries and needed an immediate treatment must they have to pay for the bill first. I just find it quite ridicules after hearing that from my friend. Yea I know it is their culture and we must not always compare it with the service we had in Singapore. But when it comes to this kind of situation, people tend to be panic and wanted the patient to be treated first. As long as nothing happen to him/her no one cares about the money. Even Indonesia hospital does not work like the one at here.
I could see that we are getting closer and closer day after day. We tend to take care of each other’s when one was feeling unwell. We took turn to look after the patient in the hospital. And I could also see how responsible is our teacher was. He stayed at the hospital for hours making sure the student was alright before he went back to rest.
Being responsible is what every person should have and that shows the maturity in you.

It was again another sightseeing tour. We went to East Lake Tingtao Scenic Spot. As we went in the morning, many were still doing morning exercise in the garden. We spotted people fishing. What catches us most was the long fishing rod they used. I even saw an elderly playing tennis ALONE. From far, it was as if he was playing against an invisible wall where the ball bounces back at him when he hit the ball in the air. Everyone was very curious when they first saw. But actually the ball was tied to an elastic string which was tied down by heavy rock. Overall the garden was quite similar with the Chinese garden in Singapore actually.
After that brief walk in the garden, we moved on to Hubei Provincial Museum. I kept following the tour guide as she was explaining the artifact even though I had a hard time listening to her explanation. At least I did understand some of the explanation and I have my friend who good in Chinese trying to explain the things which I don’t understand.
Everyone started to get hungry as most of us skipped our breakfast. We were brought to a “Shou Garden Snack Street” to have our lunch. I finally found my long wanted “Xiao Long Bao” and of course I bought it for my lunch. They named it “Dang Bao” in Wuhan meaning Hot Bun as the soup in the bun was pretty hot.
We continue our journey to the famous delicacy Yellow Crane Tower. This was the best sightseeing place for the day. To be true we had a very experienced tour guide as she could explain every single thing about the history of China. We will be seeing her again tomorrow at 830am as we will be going for another city tour.

My Reflection:

Something I experience new for today was the place where we all have our lunch. We need to get a card from a counter. The card has to be top up with cash so that we can purchase the food we want by just tapping the card.
Money is one of the dirtiest things we as come in contact with. People handle money throughout the day and the amount of germs on a person’s hands varies from person to person. And by so it was a bright idea by introducing tap card as a way of payment as that practice good hygiene where stall holder do not need to contact with the money and then food.
The advantage of the tap card will be the practicing of good hygiene.
The disadvantages will be the troublesome we consumer faces. We have to go back all the way to the counter again once our card has run out of money. We could not see the money deducted from the stall holder as the machine was at the inside of the stall. We might get cheated from them easily if they wanted to.
I still prefer the normal way of buying food where prices are being display at the stall and we can quickly get the food we want by just paying it with cash.

It all started with our first IS lesson thought by a Chinese teacher name Anna. We thought that we would have problem understanding her English but to our surprise she spoke good English.
The IS lesson is very helpful to me in understanding the history of China. She briefly explained about the Three Kingdoms Period and Hubei the province of Wuhan was the place contested by many famous historical events took place. Hubei was also the birthplace of the Chinese modern Industry. I get to know the famous local food and places too.
We have our afternoon class canceled as our teacher wanted us to have self-study instead but most of us neglected it. May be we were too tired due to the lack of sleep.
We all went to our school stadium after our short nap. Plan to sweat it out and at the same time celebrate Ming Yu and Shun Qing birthday. While waiting for the cake to arrive, some of us are being asked by the Chinese student to join them to play soccer. And so, we have a friendly game with them. Interestingly, the one who concede goal will have to do 5 push up as a punishment. By doing so, not only we enjoy the game but also build up our physical fitness.

My reflection:

I have learned something new today and this is how it goes about….
Wherever I walk around the campus, I could see many students were wearing military uniform. I thought it might be part of their CCA until one of my friends from other division told me that it is compulsory for Chinese students to undergo a sort of basic military training as part of their education.
It was told that training helps to boost student determinations because some have to stand under the hot sun for hours.
I believed after been through all the training, students will tend to be more mature and disciplined.

We all woke up at 12pm as our class start at 2pm today.
Wanted more of longer sleep, we all skip our breakfast and headed straight for lunch at the GII wan tan again.
i didn't order the wan tan because of wanting to try something new; I get the beef fried rice.
Starte to feel a little bit unwell after eating, I thought it was just a normal stomach pain and so i ignored it and headed for BPE class.
We finished learning Chapter 3 for today lesson. I realized that right every chapter that Mr Joseph has taught us, he would give us a Quiz to do on that Chapter. It is good though as our mind is still fresh so doing the Quis can be rahter easy for us.
I started to feel a little bit feverish in between the lesson and so i headed to my room earlier than others.

My reflection:

Being sick is a lesson learnt for me today. It was not that easy taking care of my own when sick. I still use to be taking care by others where my mum will bring medicine and water next to me.
But falling sick in oversea is different. Its all just by yourself. As i did't want to bother others,i went back to my room alone.This time I have to do all on my own from taking medicine to taking water.
What touches me most is when a friend from other room actually called me whether I want them to buy back food for me. This is what I call a true friendship. And by so I will remember the people who actually treated me good and for that I will try to repay them one day. I will end today reflection saying Thank you to those people who actually care about me.

It has been a very cooling day for the past 2 days with the temperature around 16-19 degree Celsius. I could see our group people are all wearing their jacket at all time.Class started in the morning at 9am.Learning a new chapter and then do quiz.we got a new assignment to catch by Friday.And so Come on guys.

my reflection:

The Taxi ride here is different from Singapore. They have mental bar as a divider from the driver seat to the passenger's seat. Giving me the impression of many bad people here whereby stealing in Taxi can happen. I find myseft very fortunate studying and living in Singapore where i need not to worry about all the robberies.
I am trying to learn how to treasure friend and by so i went to meet my friend who from BE division at a shopping mall. Sadly, we did not get to stay at the same campus. And by so i would like to quote that " once friends will always a friend". So people do keep in touch with your friends yea.

day 8

Time fly. Without us knowing, 1 week has passed just like that. Which mean we only have 5 more weeks in Wuhan.
We all woke up late as the Class starts at 2pm. Okay getting use to Flexsim now.
Ran 2.4 Km toda and hopefully can lose weight in Wuhan which i don't think that possible with all the oily food i took after the run. Surprisingly, today is the day i took the least photos; guess what i only took 3 photos today.
We have our favourite food GI wan tan again for dinner. As usual I will order the " Jiu Cai " wan tan.
Have total 4 bowls since i came here.
Heard explosion sound while eating so everyone of us went out to take a look to see what was happening. It is Firework as to celebrate a new opening KTV.

The picture above showing 2 men were painting the building supporting by rope. This was my first time to encounter this kind of situation. Never i've seen this before even in Indonesia.
Personally , i find that they are working dangerously.Trying to earn that little sum of money to support their family by even risking their own life. Every slide mistakes that they made could lead them to serious injuries or even death.This have thought me that money is not easy to earn. I knew my parents were also working very hard to support the family so that we can live a better life. And for that, i shall not spend things on unnessary things.
Also for the Fireworks,we MDE people were all busy taking pictures while the chinese didnt even bother to look at the explosion of the firework. I think the chinese people here have already get use to see the firework.They must have feel stranged to see us taking pictures of the firework.

so we have to dry our clothes in our doom instead.

my reflection:

i finally realised that chinese language is important.im now a bit regret not learning them well during my primary and secondary school life. i said so because while we were being tour around the school,i could not really understand what the conductor trying to explain the various facilities they have in the campus.My mum once told me that chinese is important while i was young but i neglected her.and now i finally experienced it, felt it and of course there was no turning back but to move on and to find ways.i tried to stand near the people who are good in chinese so that they could actually explain it to me the things which i dont understand.
For myself, i used to living on my own in spore as my parents and sibling were in indonesia while i have so coup with my study at the same time doing my laundry.
i could really see my room mates are now trying to be independent.see them hang their own clothes which they said they never did that before.i think as we move on for the next 5 weeks.our charecterictic will changed for better.more independent and mature, hopefully.

day 5 & 6

on the way to the LulinShan(which is 4 hours ride), the driver drive in high speed , cutting lanes and i was quite scare to go to sleep as anything can just happen without u realising it. until i realised that the drivers in wuhan can really drive as i myself is a driver.the way they cut lanes the way they speed are all trained to be perfect with many years of experience. to be true i find that the drivers here are more skillfull then the taxi / bus drivers in spore.
I very proud of the lady tourguide as she stood for almost 3 hours. i really cant imagine if i were her. i can really see the attitude of the people in china. the determination they had.
As i kept my eyes open on the way to LulinShan, i saw plenty of corns and wheats just beside the road.the road suppose to be a 2 way road drive and just because of the corns and wheats,it became 1 way road.This made driving even more dangerous as 2 vehicles have to share in a single road.
Wearing a straw shoe is compulsory to all people who are going for rafting.not really comfortable after wearing it but that its to prevent people from slipping from wet/slippery ground.
rafting here is not that exciting as i thought, it will be good if there are more of the falling and made the falling even steeper.heheee. i think it because i been to more exciting 1 before in Bali.
There were many good sight at the visit to the waterfall.but sadly,they are all man-made water fall.i prefer natural waterfall then man-made as they look a bit fake to me.
And of course the hotel compare to our doom is much much nicer.especially the TV ,toilet and the softly bed.the bed we had in the hostel are damn hard.as if all of us are having back problem.hahaaa.no choiceeee.we still can sleep when we are all get tired.
The performance performed by the Lulin people was fantastic. i love the song that 1 of the singer sing title "Gu Niang Wo Ai Ni". and i was lucky enought to get the song from a bus driver. he send me via bluetooth when i got to listen to the song as he played the song on the bus.He was very proud of the song sang by China people and he even send me another song title "Chong Tong De Cheng Fa".hope that my dad have this 2 songs so i could sing when i back to indo.
The mountain we visited have thought me some of the history of China too. i was very surprised that the warriors last time actually built their military base on a mountain.How creative was that isnt it.enemy can hardly attack as they have to climb the high mountain.And even they attacked,it will be easy to counter their attack.
(im sorry if my english is not good.hahahaaaa.sorry for the grammartical error)

my reflection:

many guys actually despise on woman, saying that they are weaker, they are timid.If u think they are like that,then u are wrong.it was on Lulin mountain where i witnessed X***** trying to climb that statue horse. and of course at that moment i was with her.She tried climbing and yet she failed.As a guy, i did offer her help.And guess what,she rejected my help and continue to try climbing that horse saying she could manage on her own.she tried and tried and tried and tried again and finally

she did it.Not only that she actually accomplished her mission, she actually stayed on top of the horse and give a helping hands to friend that wants to climb up.As the day passed, i really ,slowly observed the people around me and the things around me and start asking question to myself.why are they actually so determined and to be true im not.i hope and i really hope, by the end of this Wuhan trips, i will learned from the people who have those great mentality.

among the 12 good phrases that i saw in the foreign language school, i took one which i find it to be the most meaningfull one.

after i read this, i do ask myself whether i have a/an aim or not, but on that very moment i cant answer it straight away because i dont even have any aim currently. it takes me quite a while to think of my targets that i want to achieve. As a student, of course, my main aim is to get a good result (that will be my priority). that goes the same to all students. everyone wants to get a good result isnt it. i assume that we students did set their target by scoring A by the end of the term,but why some of them still didnt score well for their exams. So aiming without determination to work hard is useless. i hope the people around me and myself to set strategies and work hard towards our goal.

my reflection:

As for the people in spore, i think many just take things for granted. mainly is the public transport that the spore government provided.i still heard many complains about people not moving in and so on. to me, spore public transportation is already systematic enough compare to many countries that i have visited.

i just cant get it, why are the stall holder didnt want to get a big plastic bag or something so as to put in those used bowl. instead they just throw it by the road sides . And the 1 who clear them are old men and some women. cant they just make things simple for them.

It been two days in wuhan. And so what is the whole purpose of this trip beside test, exams and study. as time goes by, i realise that friends are very important people in life. To me they are the 2nd most important people and of course the 1st is family. we getting more and more bonded after day by day and i believe we will be get even more bonded and united after the end of this trip.

really and seriously, i hate blogging, haha, may be im new at it so i find it quite troublesome. feel very naggy like gal like that. erm yeah i got no choice but to blog it.

talking about the transportation here, i find that it wasnt that safe enough. They do not have a limited space for the passangers to board the bus instead they took as many passangers as they could until some of them stand just behind the entrance/exit door. accident might occur anytime. it is not very hygiene here though as i could see many rubbish around here and there. did the people here even concern about hygiene? to my opinion,NO NO NO.

yea i do encountered some vandalism too. Hp numbers written on many walls (good way to advertise yea) . As a developing country , this should not happen as it will give a very bad impression for foreigners who have visited the country.

to my surprise the people in wuhan are quite friendly.thereeee not all chinese is rude okayyy. not everyday is our good day. im sure we people do have their bad mood. so just be patient wh

en you encounter people with attitude problems. best way walk away and think of the reasons why they are like that.

i think China is trying to go enviroment friendly.Why? the rechargeable motor cycle tell me so. China have to put in a lot of effort to go green as their population is to large in that sense hard to control. yea i ll support you China.go go safe the earth.hahaaa.

why do u think there were so many china people working in spore? from my opinion , the money they earn in spore after they convert it to RMB(china currency) is a lot more they will earn in their country. $1 - RMB 5

as the things and food here are damn cheap.as for the FOOD; as usualllll oily and salty.guess i have to ask for less oil and salt starts from today onwards. really not use to this kind of food.
